Chances are that you've seen advertisements for local triathlons and marathons. Maybe you even know someone who has participated in one. Do you think it sounds like fun but you aren't sure you have the physical strength? Maybe you're worried about the time commitment it takes to train for a triathlon. Whatever your fears may be, rest assured that many people train for triathlons each year and are able to participate and excel in the races.
There are a number of reasons to participate in a race, including:
- The ability to raise money for an important cause
- The chance to grow closer to your friends
- The chance to develop new relationships
- The physical challenge
- The chance to work hard to accomplish something
Whatever your reasons may be for wanting to participate, give yourself the chance to do this and to succeed! Purchase a good triathlon wetsuit, the right kind of shoes and anything else you think you'll need to train.
Get a friend to train with you to help you prepare. If possible, find someone who is willing to run with you. While training may take a long time, the physical benefits are definitely worth the commitment and effort you exert to train.
